Reference Services

The HPU Libraries Reference staff is dedicated to providing the best possible reference services to the faculty, staff, and students of High Point University. Reference librarians are available in person at the reference desk in Smith Library 24/7 and at the Wanek Center Learning Commons 24/4 during the school year, as well as through our phone, chat, and email reference services. You also contact a reference librarian 24/7 while classes are in session. Librarians are also available for individual research appointments upon request. Instructional Services

HPU库参考和指导检修es staff provides library instruction in numerous forms to HPU faculty, staff, and students. According to our mission statement, we:

  • will endeavor to teach students how to use library resources by offering research sessions that are coupled to classes at the university as well as workshops offered throughout the semester.
  • will strive to educate information-literate lifelong learners. Information literacy enhances the pursuit of knowledge by preparing students to think critically about the information they use for their academic, professional, and personal lives.

In support of this mission, we offer the following services:

  • Library Instruction Sessions——我们将与教师教一个或更多的我n-class sessions that are customized to a particular course and research assignments. The class can meet in the library’s 32-seat computer lab or in your designated classroom. These sessions can vary in terms of length, content, and format, so contact a librarian to discuss your needs.
  • Research Consultations– We offer one-on-one, in-depth research assistance through individual research consultations. This is particularly helpful for students working on research projects in upper-level courses, or for any student who needs more in-depth help.   • Customized Research Guides– Research guides are created to support individual subjects, courses, or topics. They can also be customized for use with online or hybrid courses. Browse our current research guideshere, and contact us if you have a request or suggestion for a research guide.
