Freshman Profile: Athletic Excellence

HPU’s largest cohort of 1,470 new students represents a wide variety of academic achievement, service, backgrounds, cultures and geographic locations. Below is a snapshot of a student who, after completing two years of a pre-professional curriculum, anticipates joining the School of Pharmacy’s inaugural class in 2016.

Name: Jonathan Paez

High school attended: Lutheran High School of Orange County in Orange, Calif.

Accomplishments: Paez is a member of both the California Scholarship Federation and the National Honor Society. In high school, he held a position on the honor roll all four years and graduated cum laude. Paez also played four years of varsity track and three years of varsity football, earning him awards as a Football Scholar Athlete and Most Improved Varsity Athlete in 2014.

Major:Pharmacy

Why you chose HPU: “When I attended the Presidential Scholarship weekend, I fell in love with the campus. As I learned more about the school and everything that HPU had to offer, I was sure this was the place wanted to start the next chapter of my life. Another reason, I chose HPU was the new six-year Pharmacy program that includes two years of pre-professional and four years of professional school.”

What you’re looking forward to at HPU: “Being a part of the HPUBonner Leader Programis going to be very exciting and rewarding. I am also excited to meet people from all over the South and East Coast and living in NC.”
