General Criteria for Say Yes to Guilford Scholarship

As a part of the application process, on or beforeFebruary 15thapplicants will be required complete the online application for admission to High Point University and the Say Yes to Guilford/First Generation Scholarship application below. In addition, applicants must:

• Demonstrate financial need as defined by FAFSA (Free Applications For Federal Student Aidwww.fafsa.ed.gov) and file your FAFSA beginning January 1st and no later than February 15th;
• Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00 from their high school courses;
• Provide a written recommendation from a high school teacher or administrator;
• Must have attended a high school in the Guilford County School system since 9th grade;
• Be a United States Citizen;
• Must have documented annual family income of $75,000 or less;
• Meet all of the admissions criteria established by High Point University;
• 拥有a record of community service and if selected, join theBonner Leader Programat HPU; and
• Demonstrate self-motivation along with academic and leadership potential.

Specific Criteria for First Generation Scholarship

In addition to meeting all of the above criteria, First Generation Scholarship applicants must also be:

• The first generation in their family to complete a college degree;
• Must be a high school graduate from one of the High Point’s Guilford County Schools;

Getting Involved

All recipients of the Say Yes to Guilford/First Generation Scholarship automatically become members of the HPU Bonner Leaders Program. The Bonner Program is a four-year cohort-model program that brings in about 10 freshman each year who are dedicated to achieving an education that will prepare them to make a difference in our world. Bonner leaders meet regularly, attend leadership workshops, go on trips together, and they are paid an additional $2,700 a year to work 7-9 hours a week with one of HPU’s non-profit partners.

Application for Admission Process

Students must submit the following documentation and be admitted to the University to be eligible for scholarship consideration:

• An online application for admission to High Point University
• An official high school transcript
• Scores on either the SAT or ACT test; and
• A Guidance Counselor Report Form.

It is recommended that students applying for this Say Yes to Guilford/First Generation Scholarship apply for admission under the Early Action program with a deadline for submitting the above admission documents of November 16th. However students may apply under Regular Admission untilFebruary 15th.

The Say Yes to Guilford/First Generation Scholarship Application is now available for incoming freshmen students who plan to apply for admission to High Point University for the fall of 2020. Students interested in applying for this scholarship should apply using the application form below. It is recommended that students applying for the Say Yes to Guildford/First Generation Scholarship apply for admission under the Early Action or Regular Decision program. The following high school courses are required for freshman admissions to High Point University in the day program:

• English – 4 Units;
• Mathematics – 3 Units (Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry required);
• Second Language – 2 Units (May be waived since English will be considered as a foreign language for students who speak English as a second language);
• Social Studies – 3 Units; and
• Science – 3 Units (Two or more of the following: Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics, Physical Science).
